Igloo Hotel
in Rovaniemi
SkyView Igloo Resort sits in the quiet Ollerovaara forest just outside Rovaniemi, on the Arctic Circle. Every igloo is a two-storey building of its own with a private Finnish sauna, an outdoor hot tub, a full kitchen and a 360° glass-roof bedroom. The resort has its own restaurant and rooftop spa, so a dark February evening does not have to involve a drive back into the city.
We are open through the full Northern Lights season, from late August to early April, and each igloo sleeps up to four. Rovaniemi Airport connects directly to Helsinki and to several European cities through the winter, which makes this the easiest Arctic trip in Finland to reach. Nights start from €250.

Our two-storey private glass igloos
We have one accommodation type, and we built it over two floors rather than squeezing it into a single room. The ground floor, the Forrest Lounge, holds a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a lounge with a sofa bed, a modern bathroom and large panoramic windows that open the space to the surrounding forest. Nespresso and espresso machines, a fridge and freezer, an air fryer, a smart TV, a workspace and high-speed Wi-Fi are all there.
The upper floor, the Sky Spa Loft, is the reason people book. It holds the 360° glass-roof bedroom, a private Finnish sauna with its own spa area, direct access to the heated outdoor hot tub, and a terrace over Lapland. Bathrobes, slippers, Rituals amenities and a Dyson Airwrap are provided. The bed sits directly under the glass.
Everything runs on geothermal underfloor heating, with the temperature thermostat controlled at around 23 °C. Every igloo has air conditioning, a safety box and an EV charger. Two things we do not have: a fireplace and a washing machine. The heating keeps the igloo warm through the coldest Arctic nights without a fireplace, and there are laundry services in Rovaniemi for longer stays.
Restaurant Aura and Arctic Spa Culta
Restaurant Aura is on the property. Its menu was created with chef Tomi Björck and combines global flavours with pure Nordic ingredients, served à la carte or as a tasting menu with curated wine and drink pairings, under panoramic views over Lapland. Breakfast is included in every stay. Dinner can be booked separately or as part of a package.
Arctic Spa Culta is our rooftop spa, a panoramic sauna and a heated infinity pool set among the treetops with stars above and reflected below. It is open to visitors as well as resort guests. Your igloo already has its own sauna and hot tub, so Culta adds height, scale and view rather than replacing anything.
Together they are the reason a stay here does not require a car in the evening. That is a real difference from most igloo accommodation in the Rovaniemi area, where dinner means driving back into the city and the sauna is in a shared building.
Where we are and how to reach us
We are at Olleronvaarantie 66 in Ollerovaara, 15 minutes from the Rovaniemi Airport and a short drive from the city centre. We arrange private airport transfers, so send your flight details when you book. We do not rent cars ourselves, but they can be picked up at the airport or in the city if you would rather chase clear skies on your own schedule.
Being outside the city is the point. The difference between the sky over central Rovaniemi and the sky twenty minutes out is substantial on a faint aurora night, and faint nights are the common ones. What you give up is walking distance to restaurants. That is the reason Aura is here, and the reason Lapland WinterPark is a five-minute walk rather than a drive.
Prices, packages and what’s included
Every stay includes daily breakfast at Restaurant Aura, bed linen and towels, daily cleaning, free parking, luggage drop-off and early check-in when we can manage it. Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out by noon. Breakfast delivered to your igloo, extra meals and transfers can be added. Nights start from €250 and run to well over €1,000 for the busiest dates of the year, with prices set by date rather than by a fixed season.
Our holiday packages start from €3,900 and bundle the igloo with a set of Arctic experiences, private return airport transfers, daily breakfast, a dinner at Restaurant Aura, one curated Arctic Spa Culta experience per person, premium winter clothing, a Northern Lights alert app and concierge service throughout. The Family Retreat starts from €3,900, The Stillness Stay from €4,000, The Honeymoon Signature from €5,600, The Arctic Retreat and The Arctic Family Journey from €6,300, and The Private Escape from €8,250.
Experiences can also be booked individually. The Northern Lights Pro Tour starts from €199 per person with unlimited mileage and time, professional photography and thermal clothing. The SkyView Signature Husky Safari, a 7 km self-driven sled run, starts from €269. The Santa Claus Village Tour and the SkyView Exclusive Reindeer Experience start from €169, and the three-hour Snowmobile & Reindeer Experience from €189. All include transfers from the resort.
Northern Lights from the resort
Rovaniemi sits inside the auroral oval, and the lights are visible on clear nights from late August to early April. The 360° glass roof means you watch from bed instead of standing in −25 °C, which over three nights is a far more sustainable way to wait for something that keeps its own schedule. The terrace and the hot tub are a few steps away when you want the full horizon.
The aurora needs clear skies and solar activity, and neither is guaranteed on a given night. On a cloudy one, our Northern Lights Pro Tour drives until it finds a break in the cloud. For when to come, how likely you are to see the lights and what to do if they do not appear, see our guide to Northern Lights igloos in Finland.
Things to do from here
Lapland WinterPark is a five-minute walk from the igloos and suits all ages. A local reindeer farm sits five minutes away, and our Exclusive Reindeer Experience takes you there with return transfers, feeding, a short sleigh ride and coffee with local pastries.
Santa Claus Village is the best-known attraction in Lapland and worth a half day, particularly with children. Our tour includes transport, an English-speaking guide, a local lunch, thermal clothing and a meeting with Santa himself, which removes the logistics from a trip that is otherwise fiddly to organise.
Husky and snowmobile safaris are the classic Lapland days out. The husky safari is self-driven over 7 km and includes time at the kennel with the dogs. The snowmobile outing combines the ride with ice fishing and a visit to our own reindeer enclosure. Ranua Arctic Wildlife Park is a longer day trip, included in our Arctic Family Journey package.
Northern Lights from the resort
The igloos are locally crafted in Lapland using modular low-impact construction and sustainably sourced Finnish materials, heated geothermally, and built from cross-laminated timber that stores carbon rather than releasing it. Every igloo has an EV charger.
This shaped the buildings rather than following them. Modular construction meant less disturbance to the forest during the build, and geothermal underfloor heating keeps running emissions low across a long, dark season. Our responsibility page has the detail.
Frequently asked questions
How far is the resort from Rovaniemi Airport?
We are at Olleronvaarantie 66 in Ollerovaara, 15 minutes from the Rovaniemi Airport
We arrange private airport transfers, so send your flight details when you book.
Do the igloos have private bathrooms?
Yes.
A modern bathroom downstairs and a private Finnish sauna with a spa area upstairs, plus your own outdoor hot tub. Nothing is shared.
How much does a night cost?
From €250, rising to well over €1,000 for the busiest dates.
Prices are set by date rather than by a fixed season, so the booking calendar shows the real rate for your nights.
Is the resort open in summer?
Our season runs from late August to early April.
Outside that, the nights in Lapland are not dark enough for the aurora, and a glass roof works better in darkness than in the midnight sun.
Can you see the Northern Lights from the igloos?
Yes, on clear nights when the aurora is active.
The glass roof faces the open sky and we are far enough outside Rovaniemi that light pollution is not a factor. Nobody can guarantee the lights on a given night, so we recommend two or three.
Is there a restaurant on site?
Yes, Restaurant Aura, with a menu created with chef Tomi Björck.
Breakfast is included in every stay. Lunch and dinner are available separately.
Is there a fireplace or a washing machine?
Neither.
The igloo is well insulated and geothermally heated, so it stays warm through the coldest nights, and there are laundry services in Rovaniemi.
Are the igloos suitable for families?
Yes.
Each sleeps up to four, with a sofa bed in the ground-floor lounge and a separate living area. The reindeer sleigh ride, the husky visit and the Santa Claus Village tour are all built with children in mind.
Do you rent cars?
Not directly.
Book in advance from a provider at Rovaniemi Airport or in the city. We can arrange a private airport transfer instead.
Some moments are worth the cold.
